My tip for healthier living
I enjoy “walking around town” on weekends.
When going for a walk, I choose a destination within a 10-15 km radius. Walking is a great way to make new discoveries that normally would go unnoticed, and choosing where to go next is part of the joy.

Support to quit smoking
We are committed to supporting people who want to quit smoking, and have continued to implement a program to that end with remote guidance.
Measures to prevent passive smoking
In accordance with the Health Promotion Law at each business location, indoor smoking areas are being eliminated or maintained.

Mental health
Astemo has established mental health support measures for employees, workplace managers, occupational health staff, and the human resources department. It is working to enhance the basic knowledge and understanding surrounding mental health and stress management, as well as to strengthen the ability to deal with stress on an individual level. We are implementing proactive, preventive approaches to address the increasing mental burdens due to diversifying work styles.
Self care and line care
We promote mental health measures such as e-learning-based self-care education and line-care education for managers, regular video distribution of educational materials, establishment of an EAP consultation service for employees and their families, and promotion of regular 1-on-1 meetings in the workplace.
Support for returning to work
We have introduced a return-to-work support program and provide individualized support to ensure a smooth return to work and to prevent the need for future leave of absences.

Proactive response to individuals and workplaces
We aim to increase the rate of employees taking stress checks to prevent mental disorders among employees, encouraging them to become aware of their own stress and, if necessary, to receive guidance by a doctor via an interview.
In addition, based on stress check group analysis and internal employee surveys, we promote proactive measures (individual interviews, implementation of resilience training, education for managers, etc.).
In addition, we have introduced external EAP (Employee Assistance Program) services to support individual employees and workplaces through counseling and consulting by psychological experts.

Ways of working
Promoting diverse work styles
We have created an environment where our diverse workforce can choose flexible work styles without being restricted by time or place, enabling them to work in their own way to achieve results. Establishing a flextime work system without core hours and a telecommuting system, we strive to realize efficient and diverse work styles.

Support for balancing treatment
We have introduced a therapeutic work system, a flextime work system, and hourly paid annual leave, etc. to enable employees to continue working while undergoing appropriate treatment for cancer, stroke, etc.
A framework is in place for employees to consult with their attending physicians, occupational physicians, occupational health staff, the Human Resources and General Affairs Department, and workplace managers.
Prevention of serious illness
Physical examination

By regularly recommending that those who have not yet done medical examinations to do so, both the company and the health insurance association are reinforcing efforts to reduce the number of people who have not had medical examinations to zero.
In addition, the health insurance association has a system to subsidize the cost of medical examinations, and employees aged 35 or older can have a physical examination at any medical institution of their choice, which also serves as the statutory medical checkup.
Furthermore, Astemo as a partner in promoting “Corporate Action for Cancer Control” aims to increase the cancer screening rate in the workplace, and is taking the initiative in highlighting the importance of cancer screenings. Astemo is working toward the early detection and treatment of cancer by recommending employees to undergo screening at different parts of the body depending on their age, and by providing a cost assistance system.
Dealing with high-risk individuals
In response to employees diagnosed as a high risk of developing lifestyle-related diseases and in addition to the specific health guidance mandated by health insurance associations, we actively implement a total of nine programs. These include a program to prevent the severe progression of metabolic conditions for those on medication, a health guidance program for younger individuals, a program to support the prevention of severe progression for employees with high blood sugar, blood pressure, or lipid levels, and a program to prevent severe progression of diabetic nephropathy for employees with impaired kidney function in addition to high blood sugar levels. These initiatives aim to actively promote the prevention of severe complications such as from diabetes, cerebrovascular diseases, and cardiovascular diseases.

Dieting to lose weight
One of the specific health guidance programs, its goal is for participants to lose 5 percent of their body weight in 90 days by utilizing a “100 kcal card” weight loss tool. There are 350 cards in total.
